Brendan & Fergie
We think that it is timely to remind contributors to this 'messageboard' that it is a medium for sharing news, memories and views related to the folk scene. There is much more detail about this in the 'guidelines' section above. Three recent messages have strayed beyond this guidance and we have taken them down. Thanks to the goodwill of you all we have rarely felt the need to intervene in this way over our 23 years.

Desolated to learn recently that Ray McAreavey had left us but I'm still hoping, almost a half century after we chummed around, to dig up Gogie McCullough either here or in Greenland. I lived in the Belfast area 1975-79 and can be reached via jpresant@protonmail.com

It was good to see your message about our mutual friend and musical partner Wallace Hood. A formidable player indeed.we had some great adventures driving through the night in the Canadian Rockies heavy snow storms and playing in the iconic folk venues in California. I read about your very significant achievements in the triathlon. I’m pleased you were able to switch trajectories use your natural determination to achieve such recognition in such a rigorous sport. Congratulations on your success!

i rarely visit the site but was told quite recently of the death of Wallace. I played with him for 2 years in Canada/US and was always in awe of his ability on numerous instruments. I certainly learned so much from his skills and the professionalism he projected. He was a joy to be with in a foreign country and a great ambassador for our culture. I got the shock of my life when one day, years ago, he called me to wish me well in my sport! Great memories Wallace.

Loraine...Wallace hoods sister
Thanks for the kind remarks about Wallace.
He had been ill for many years and had severed contact with most family, friends and sadly music.
I have many happy memories of Pats bar and Michigan and still have the Pats People albums to remember how talented he was.
